Lichthaus Haid
Catching the eye since 1949
In 1949, Max and Richard Haid created the first neon-writings for the „Löwenkino“ and the „Centralkino“ cinemas in Innsbruck. Today, Lichthaus Haid supplies its customers all over the world.
The first chapter of a long business story was written shortly after the Second World War: In 1947, the two-men operation started with electrical installations and damp proof luminaires. Two years later, with the creation of a neon-glassblowing unit , the business got properly launched. Finally, in 1952, Lichthaus Haid was officially founded as GmbH (a company with limited liability).
It was the perfect timing. Elvis Presley was coming up and Marilyn Monroe all over the screens – the shiny world of neon signs and letters as advertisement couldn’t be ignored in the aftermath of the Second World War – Lichthaus Haid created writings, signs and logos of all sizes and colours. Business was flourishing, so the obvious next step was to cross the Tyrolean border. Opening a branch in Munich in 1958 marked only the beginning of a wider, locally operating network with offices in Vienna, Zagreb, Prag and Reghin, Rumania.
